In the silent Linden : this blog is a diary about my - Barbara Beeckmans - work as an artist. I work with ink, drypoint, etching, watercolour.
Hier kun je ook iets proeven van wat er gebeurt in de stille Linde : het kunsthuis, de droomboom, de stille aanraking van seiki en shiatsu. Welkom.

All she can hold

An ocean and a boat in her belly and stars in her sky.

And creatures of fur and feather in the wings of her heart

In her wings
The first prints of the drypoint in the previous post.
I'll work further on this plate, carefully,
for I enjoy discovering how light and gentle intaglio can be.

4 x words from you and me:

  1. Great work! Black and white in perfect harmony. Drypoint:So peaceful the soul sleeps between the wings! I hear them rushing soft and mighty.

  2. Wow, you have been busy! Lovely work... all those faint lines are sort of touching, so delicate.

Oh, and I meant to ask, in your last post you mentioned that you used a pen to sketch directly onto the copper plate before starting your dry point work. What sort of pen was that? A litho crayon? In the back of my mind I'm slowly working up to trying a dry point (I've been too chicken so far), so it could be a useful tip!

  3. Thank you Dori, and Jodi, to sketch on the copper plate I use a fine felt pen, sepia coloured, I think you can use many kinds of soft pens, and you can easily wipe things away.

  4. Ah, that would work! Good to know.
