In the silent Linden : this blog is a diary about my - Barbara Beeckmans - work as an artist. I work with ink, drypoint, etching, watercolour.
Hier kun je ook iets proeven van wat er gebeurt in de stille Linde : het kunsthuis, de droomboom, de stille aanraking van seiki en shiatsu. Welkom.

the Bird - two prayers

this wounded bird still sings a hymn
of beauty
surrounded with prayer

wounded birds haunt the blogs these days
Dori met this one

and at the same time, my bird only became a bird, this bird
lying on his back in these hands
because our cat caught my brush while I was painting
and made some marks that I could only shape into a bird
the eye of this bird is only the cat's work
not mine

this ink painting is also a prayer
I thought the figure at the left side was praying
but now I see it's the other one
completely immersed

3 x words from you and me:

  1. Thomas said, for him the wounded bird is a symbol for the wounded nature.

What a wonderful black/white painting full of harmony and virtue! I love the two faces. They are full of love and feeling. It is like a Japanese painting. Like Yin and Yang.

A cat is painting the eye of a bird: this is a shimmer of paradise!

  2. Such simple brushstrokes, such powerful paintings!

  3. The wounded bird is a symbol of everything that is of real value, that is fragile and still full of hope.
Real value means : for the spirit, for humanity, for nature.
